ESPRESSO MARTINI

Cocktail Shaker
Jigger/Measure
Coupe/Martini glass
 
Ingredients:
10 ML Kahlúa
10 ML Simple Syrup
Method:
Half fill your cocktail shaker with ice
Add ingredients
Shake had for 10-15 seconds
Strain into coupe or martini glass
Garnish with ground coffee or nutmeg

The Espresso Martini was created in here in London in 1983 when a woman famously asked bartender Dick Bradsels to create her a drink that would ‘wake me up, and then fuck me up.’ There was a coffee machine next to the bar he was working at, so he mixed vodka and the coffee together as well as coffee liqueur and sugar, thereby making the first beloved Espresso Martini! Although then it was called the Vodka Espresso, due to its two main ingredients. Then it was later changed to how we know it today the Espresso Martini as it was served in a Martini glass. Then when Dick worked at the Pharmacy Bar he renamed it once more the Pharmaceutical Stimulant, however today it’s more commonly known as the Espresso Martini. 


In our recipe we use Black Cow vodka which makes the drink have a creamy taste, blended with our own Kuka espresso. Kahlúa is a rich tasting coffee liqueur which brings a sweet taste to the cocktail. 

Black Cow vodka is an original and authentic type of whey based vodka, inspired by Araka, an alcoholic form of fermented milk Gengis Khan used to give to his armies. Taking inspiration from this, Black Cow vodka is the only vodka in the world made completely from milk products. 

Kahlúa originates from Mexico 1936, when two brothers added rum, sugar and 100% arabica coffee together. Kahlúa is credited with being one of the first producer of coffee liquors in the world, with it being named after the Arabic slang word for coffee. In the 1960’s the company became a media sensation as it was one of few companies that had all female leadership, and since 1980 it has been the number one coffee liqueur making it perfect for our Espresso Martini!
